A surface mount is any light fixture that attaches to an architectural surface such as a ceiling or wall. This type of fixture comes in a variety of shapes, sizes and styles. For example, the Brooklyn 2-Light Wall Sconce is a popular surface mount light in our shop.


We offer FREE SHIPPING within the contiguous USA with $35 purchase or more. $8.95 flat rate shipping for all orders under $35. We reserve the right to pick which courier service to use for free shipping.

Follow these simple step for returns
Contact us for a return authorization.
• We will email you a prepaid return label.
• Stick ship label to the same box your order came in, which you will have already repackaged and sealed.
• Drop package off at post office.
• We will confirm the condition of your return and issue a refund.

Returned items must be in their original packaging and in the same condition they were sent. Buyers are responsible for return shipping costs and a 10% restocking fee which will be deducted from all return refunds.

What does IP44 mean?2019-05-04T05:11:18-04:00

IP44 refers to a type of lighting approved for use in some areas of the bathroom. The IP code stands for International Protection Rating, which is also called the Ingress Protection Rating.

The IP coding system is defined in international standard IEC 60529. IP codes refer to the degree of protection against intrusion of solids or water in electrical enclosures. The codes always consist of the letters IP plus two numbers and optionally another letter. The first number refers to the degree of protection against solids while the second number refers to the degree of protection against water.

The scale goes from 0 (no protection) to 6 (dust tight) in the first digit. The second digit goes from 0 (not protected) to 8 (immersible beyond 1 meter.) IP44 means:

• 4 as the first digit: protected against most wires, screws, tools and fingers
• 4 as the second digit: protected against water splashing the enclosure from any direction

When it comes to bathroom lighting, a rating of IP44 means that the lighting can be used anywhere in the bathroom, with the exception of right inside the bath or shower stall. Lighting in this area, also called Zone 0, must be IP67 or completely immersible. IP44-rated lighting may be used above the bath or shower starting at about 7.5 feet (2.28 meters) from floor level.

UL is the most respected name in product safety in the United States. Using UL’s strict traceability guidelines, all components of a completed product meet or exceed UL’s quality and safety standards. When a lighting fixture is UL Listed, it means the final product has been tested and certified to UL standards. It then gets a holographic UL label on the backside of the canopy indicating it has passed. To see if an BRIGHTTIA fixture is UL Listed, look in description of the listing. Fixtures that are not UL Listed are constructed with UL Listed electrical components.

Yes, since we do not collect tax on behalf of your local government, your purchases are subject to local taxes and duties as applicable.

A thumbscrew is usually referred to a protruding screw used for securing a ceiling canopy to the back plate/bracket. It can be loosen or tighten by hand instead a screw driver.

Our fixtures are compatible with all E26 bulbs (Max 60W). If not it will be noted in the description area of the product page.

Our lamp cords are pre-cut in 16 feet rolls. How long you need it depends on your ceiling height or what you trying to create.

Can I use an electrical cord with 3-conductors as a 2-conductor cord?2019-03-17T14:48:09-04:00

Yes. If you need a 2-conductor cord, just clip the ground (green) wire and leave it unused.  Use the hot (black) and neutral (white) wires.

A selection of our pendants are Shade-Ready which means they are designed with a threaded socket and lock ring. Most lamp shades with a 40mm/1.58in aperture ring are compatible with our Shade-Ready pendants.

Many of our fixtures can be made with a cord and plug option to work on walls or ceilings without an electrical junction box.

What does bare/unfinished brass mean?2019-04-16T22:13:22-04:00

When we say a part is unfinished brass it means the brass is in an natural state after manufacturing. Nothing more has been done to the brass to finish it. The brass is dull, may have manufacturing marks such as small scratches or scrapes. The brass could have manufacturing oils or grease. This can stain the brass in some places. The brass can be tarnished. After manufacturing, when brass is not sealed with varnish or lacquer, oxidation can start darkening the brass. Since parts are manufactured at different times unfinished brass parts can be at different states of aging. This would make unfinished parts not match each other. Many people use unfinished brass parts as they are to give an old antique feel. The parts continue to oxidize and eventually match each other.

A fitter is the lip-shaped part of the shade that slips into the fixture’s shade holder and is held in place by fitter screws. Common fitter diameters are 2.25″, 4″ and 6″. The size of the fitter and shade holder are the determining factors when pairing fixtures with shades.

We normally ship within the USA only but we are happy to accommodate international customers. In order to receive an international shipping quote, please contact our Customer Care Team and provide your full shipping address, phone number, exact items (finish, cord color, length, etc.), and quantity you would like to order. We will complete the required paperwork to ship our products; however, you are responsible for all additional paperwork, duty and taxes required prior to delivery.

As an international buyer you are responsible for any and all duties and custom charges that may occur with shipment.
